Just when you thought election season was finally over, Miami criminal defense attorney Milton Hirsch is starting the new year campaigning — for the 2010 judicial election. He confirmed Internet speculation that he is running, saying Wednesday he will seek the seat being vacated by Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Gerald Hubbart. A kickoff event is planned at David O. Markus’ Miami law office Feb. 3. Hirsch, a veteran criminal defense lawyer, explained the timing of the move by saying, "If I’m ever going to try to add my little grain of sand to the edifice of justice, it’s now or never." If he served two terms, he would hit the mandatory judicial retirement age at the end of his second term. He said that timing would be ideal.
