Two Miami-Dade County Court judges are among 16 applicants hoping to replace newly retired Chief Circuit Judge Joel Brown.
County Court Judges D.J. Cannava in the domestic violence division and Wendell Graham in civil sent resumes to the Judicial Nominating Commission by Friday's deadline.
Joining them are previous JNC nominees Jason Bloch, a Miami-Dade assistant county attorney; Michelle Delancy, partner at delancyhill in Miami; and Steven Reininger of Rasco Reininger Perez Esquenazi & Vigil in Coral Gables.
New applicants include Hialeah solo practitioner and former Assistant State Attorney Thomas Cobitz; Assistant Federal Public Defender Ayana Harris in Miami; Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Luck in Miami; and Miami solo practitioner and former Assistant State Attorney Stephen Millan.
Seven lawyers updated applications on file with the JNC: Raul Flores, past director of the Cuban American Bar Association Pro Bono Project in Miami; Miami Assistant City Attorney Christopher Green; Assistant State Attorneys Sandra Miller-Batiste and Melba Pearson; West Palm Beach solo practitioner Andrew Ostrow; Alan Sackrin of Sackrin & Tolchinsky in Hallandale Beach; and insurance defense lawyer and former Assistant State Attorney Julie Terry of Roig, Tutan, Rosenberg, Martin & Stoller in Deerfield Beach.
