Two county court judges and a magistrate in Palm Beach County are among 25 applicants listed to fill the vacancy being left by Circuit Judge John Hoy.
County judges Reginald Corlew in the Delray Beach courthouse, Laura Johnson in the Palm Beach Gardens courthouse, and Magistrate Sara Alijewicz in the south county hope to replace Hoy after he exits the bench on January 31.
Several West Palm Beach attorneys in law enforcement put their names forward, including Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn Bell at the Department of Justice, Assistant Attorney General Mark J. Hamel and Assistant State Attorney Adrienne Ellis of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit.
Other public agency attorneys are Jeffrey Gillen at the Florida Department of Children & Families, Melanie Lynn Casper and Leronnie Mason at the Office of Regional Councel, Region 4. There is a civil rights attorney on the list, Jean Marie Middleton of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County.
