The list of judges and lawyers vying for Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Amy Steele Donner’s spot is out.
Six judges and a general magistrate have applied, including County Court Judges Andrew Hague, Cristina Miranda, Maria Ortiz, Rodney Smith and Deborah White-Labora, all serving in the criminal division. County Court Judge Norma Lindsey is the only one from the civil division, and the lone general magistrate in the running is the family division’s Yadira Pedraza.
Applications also came from attorneys Steven Befera, Donald Cannava, Miguel de la O, Rachel Dooley, Julio Gomez, Christopher Green, Carlos Guzman, Richard Hersch, Gordon Murray, Carmelo Palomino, Jonathan Parker, Bonnie Riley, Alan Sackrin, Douglas Swalina, Jeffrey Swartz, Scott Warfman and Angelica Zayas.
Donner turned 70 last month and became ineligible to seek another term because of the state’s mandatory judicial retirement age. She remains on the bench as a senior judge, willing to work for free.
