There’s another scramble for an open seat on the federal bench.
Many of the attorneys applying for the position were candidates last year to fill an opening created when U.S. District Judge Daniel T.K. Hurley took senior status. The latest opening became available when U.S. District Judge Paul C. Huck decided to follow suit.
Federal Public Defender Kathleen Williams was nominated by President Obama for Hurley’s opening and is awaiting U.S. Senate confirmation.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judges Jerald Bagley and Robert Scola, who were runner-ups to Williams, have applied again.
