The outgoing governor can make one more appointment to the Miami-Dade bench before he leaves office in January.
The Miami-Dade Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission sent Gov. Charlie Crist a shortlist of six names today as possible replacements for Circuit Judge Ronald M. Friedman, who retires at the year’s end.
The commission nominated five Miami-Dade county court judges and a Broward attorney to fill the spot.
The list includes Judges Victoria Brennan, Rosa Figarola, Darrin Gayles, Lisa Walsh and Deborah White-Labora and Hallandale Beach attorney Alan Sackrin.
The seat opened when Friedman decided to end his two-decade judicial career after blaming the recession for making his job unbearable. He said the dockets were too full and pay too low.
