It looks like Pacer has rolled out an attractive new redesign. But connecting to the online federal case database is extremely slow right now. Either everyone’s trying to check out the newbie at the same time, or the system is having trouble delivering. It’s taking minutes to call up a case search screen. And this was for a California case before West Coast users were at their computers.
The introductory pages are new, but the interior pages look the same once you get to the "query" screen.
The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts put out a news release Saturday announcing the change. Among the promised enhancements are an e-mail delivery service, multimedia offerings, widgets and a read-aloud service. It might be a good idea to test these later.
Happy hunting. Plan on losing 10 minutes on a task that used to take about a minute.
