Broward Assistant Public Defender Olga M. Levine has switched judicial races.
She initially signed up for the seat held by County Judge Lee Jay Seidman but now will pursue the seat held by Circuit Judge John Luzzo. She also faces Michael Joseph Rocque, a criminal defense solo practitioner. It’s probable he may drop out of the race, a source who didn’t want to be identified said.
Luzzo has been on the bench for 28 years. Gov. Bob Graham initially appointed him in 1981 to a county court seat, and he was elevated to circuit court in 1985. This is the first time Luzzo has faced an election opponent.
The filing deadline for candidates is April 30.
